As you are aware, Eagle Lake is experiencing low water conditions; more so this year than in any other year.  Launching at Spalding Tract has been impossible for several years and fortunately good fishing has continued because of the accessibility of launching at the South End Marina.

After assessing the launch ramp situation, the Spalding Community District, under the direction of General Manager, Mike Arnold, members of the Spalding “Steering Committee” and the CIFFI Board of Directors approved acting upon local resident Gary Davis’ original plan of building an extension to the existing ramp.  This will enable anglers, as the lake waters rise, to launch without difficulty or experiencing the hazardous conditions of a too-short launch ramp, causing damage to boat trailers and vehicles.

The photos follow the process as it was implemented and completed during the week of September 7, 2015.  The equipment and plenty of free volunteer help was instrumental in the completion of the project and PELT dollars covered materials expenses.  This was very timely as the Eagle Lake Bonus Fish that are normally planted into the lake were not done this year or last and the dollars instead went to this project, once again, contributing to efforts to enhance the fishing experience and safety at Eagle Lake!

Only one remaining concern – RAIN!  Hopefully Mother Nature will provide us with much needed water and Eagle Lake then returns to its rightful place as California’s trophy trout “Heritage Lake”.
