The Classroom Aquarium Education Program (CAEP) is managed by the California Dept. of Fish & Game. In early 2010, Ethan Rotman and Bobbie Winn of the DFG, made a presentation to the Board of Directors of California Inland Fisheries Foundation requesting funding for duplicating 5,000 “Wild About Trout” 2nd edition CDs for use in California’s classrooms. The Board approved the expense and the pro...ject began. CIFFI, in partnership with Pacific Gas & Electric Company, shared cost of the project.

The CD has five PowerPoint slide presentations on trout, designed to be used with classes involved in hatching fish in their classrooms. The information provided lends itself to a variety of programs and uses across the country. Each show is flexible…the five narrative guides provide background information. The five shows are: Introduction to Trout and the Program, Trout Life Stages, A Trout’s Diet, Watersheds and A Trout’s Habitat. Handouts are included to be used to supplement the curriculum.
